TEGUCIGALPA, HONDURAS (Constructing Homes/Anti-trafficking)
This team will be constructing houses that will provide critically needed shelter for families with children and teens at risk of being victims of human trafficking. Most trafficking occurs as a bi-product of extreme poverty. The poor are easy targets for the criminals who prey on the poor with the empty promise of a better job in the city. They abduct or purchase children from Trash Dump communities such as those who scavenger for food and recyclable items at the dump outside Tegucigalpa. Providing homes for these families will help prevent human trafficking off the trash dump.
